Dear Fellow Pickleballers,
We are looking forward to an event filled year of pickleball activities. We are very fortunate to be part of a club filled with so many great people. A big THANK YOU to Sarah and Kathy for their leadership and support! After meeting with them, we would like to share our goals for the club.
Goal 1: Improvement/Maintenance of the Facilities. There is a $2000 line item in the budget for the recreation area. We will continue to push for some of those funds to be allocated to improve our facilities, as well as revisiting the request for lights over the courts. Thank you Hayes for your hard work on this! Lighting the courts would allow more court time which will help alleviate the overflow and provide more opportunities for those who work since a proposal for transitioning the basketball court into a multi-purpose court was denied. We will share any information we receive about maintenance on the surface of the court, which we will also continue to advocate for. We are under the impression that some sort of resurfacing is in the plan for the spring, but they are having difficulties finding a contractor.
Goal 2: Fundraising. In lieu of using the funds we have accumulated through the various events this year on the lights, we are planning to purchase supplies for Glow Parties to be held at night for all levels. The Glow Parties and the Annual Pickleball Parties in the spring will help to provide a continual slush fund as we are in need of a new battery for the blower, new pickleballs, brooms, new tarps for the portable nets, and replacements for the rollers. A suggestion offered was to collect an annual dues per player to help offset the expenses to help support these events that only benefit the members of our club.
