This month’s topic:

Discover How Yoga Is Not Just Exercise

Presented by: Cat Cambra

You are invited to explore the profound and transformative path of Buddhist Yoga.

Our speaker, Cat Cambra (the daughter of our very own Eileen Gross), began her journey into these ancient wisdom traditions with a deep curiosity about the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. This led her to Three Jewels NYC, where she completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training and 200-hour Meditation Teacher Training, followed by an Advanced Meditation Teacher Training. These foundational programs equipped her with the skills to guide both physical asana and deep meditative states, always emphasizing an authentic approach rooted in the lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.  Beyond these certifications, Cat's commitment to understanding the subtle intricacies of the mind and reality led her to undertake an extensive philosophical study: the 18-course curriculum of the Asian Classics Institute (ACI). This rigorous 6 year program is equivalent to the decades of training a monk or nun would receive to become a Geshe, covering classical Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. This rich philosophical foundation is not separate, but deeply woven into her approach to practice.

PROGRAM

Unveiling Yoga's True Purpose: A Tibetan Buddhist Perspective

We will join Cat for a unique session where we'll delve beyond the physical to explore yoga's profound purpose through a Tibetan Buddhist lens. While many come to yoga for its physical benefits, this class will unveil how specific movements and practices are designed to cultivate a more subtle and powerful influence on your mind.

We'll begin with the very basics of Tibetan Buddhism and yoga's inception, understanding its original intention as a path to liberation. Cat will guide us through the essentials of the subtle body, exploring concepts like channels, prana (life force energy), and chakras, and how these interconnected systems allow us to "move the body to move the mind." The session will include accessible chair postures, gentle breathwork, and a taste of meditation to help us experience these deeper connections firsthand. Discover how yoga is not just exercise, but a precise and ancient science for transforming your inner world.

We do everything we can to make this a safe environment but ultimately it is up to each individual. Masks are optional but if you are not feeling well, please stay home.  We will have air filtration units in place, and please no perfumes or cologne .

As always, an important aspect of our Circle is the desire to pay it forward by collecting a small donation ($10 suggested) to support a local charity.

Space is Limited so please RSVP by text to Kelly Good at 757-650-5787
